How do you keep the pins on the handles from coming out?

Did I see a fix for this on the board somewhere?

Had the same thing happen several times. The problem is we lose the pins and can never find the right size.
Duct tape always works.

That is the direction they come out. My guess is the ring is for pulling them out.

I've not seen that, mine is either older or newer but it doesn't have the pull rings.
