No i wouldn't ever use any long handle attachment to clean stairs. Watching videos of wand monkeys useing um is just baffling to me to see the amount of effort exerted in order to not get down on their knees ??? This is what i have always used and when the step goes past the rise and creates a extended bull nose i spray it first then use my attachments vacuum hose with a cut out to dry it separately i also charge $1 more per step in that situation. Another advantage to the 5" stair tool i use is the side mounted soulition trigger it allows me to get into tighter spaces like under dressers or cabinets with short legs where as you can't with the trigger on the bottom as long as whatever im trying to clean under is high enough off the carpet for the head to clear i can clean under it. But it does require me to get off my ass and on my hands and knees to do it. I do carry a long handle attachment it's 4' long and straight and i need to be on my knees to use it also. I use it primarily to reach under beds

Me, your tool takes longer…i like 30” stair tool. It works best for my back, arm and leg ergonomics.
Sometimes your upholstery size tool works best in some situations like wood stairs have brass rods, carpet in the center.
It's about 50% bigger than a upholstery tool. I can do 15 steps & rises pretty fast even if it has extended bull nose and i don't need a different attachment in the situations you just mentioned. It's also easy to use on very narrow staiwells (we have alot of old Victorian houses with um)I do make a decent profit on stairs. Im rural so in my local area i get $3 per step and $4 for extended bull nose ( angled steps and square steps to change direction are ×2)and $1 more per step outside my local area

After a few years you begin to realize to think out of the box.
Your hose cuff idea got me thinking. That notch gives a bit of agitation.
